Workplace Bullying: Creating Safer and Stronger Workplaces

Melbourne's Workplaces Attend Professional Development Training Course

Course Overview

G'day colleagues. Through my work with Australian businesses over 20 years I have met too many talented professionals who have suffered in silence as a result of not knowing how to handle bullying at work. This extensive course tackles one of the most difficult and prevalent problems that workplaces commonly face, that of making a place that everyone can excel in, without the fear of harassment, intimidation or toxic behaviours.

This is not about bandages or band aids. We go deep into practical based on the evidence strategies that really work in real Australian workplaces. Whether you're the one being bullied, seeing others being bullied, or managing a team who could do with more protection, this course gives you the tools and confidence to make a real difference.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Recognise and distinguish between workplace conflict and bullying behaviours, according to some clear, specific criteria

Can you share with our listeners three of the most common mistakes you see other parents make when they respond to bullying within their own community? What should you do instead?

Use a process that acknowledges incidents in ways that can inform formal complaints and investigations

Engage in assertive communication that addresses the issue at hand without confronting.

Work within organisational systems such as HR, unions and external agencies

Cultivate personal resilience tactics to safeguard emotional well being in the face of challenging work issues

Established supportive bystander interventions that protect victims among colleagues from being harassed.

Create workplace cultures that stop bullying before it starts (for leaders and managers)

What You Will Learn

Module 1: Recognising Workplace Bullying Separating typical work friction from actual harassment. We'll examine the quiet signals that most people miss, from social disinvitation to orchestrated work sabotage. You will learn about the legal system in Australia and why documentation is important, from day one.

Module 2: React Right Now Intervene when bullying occurs using effective actions. Techniques that silence inappropriate behaviour with words, body language that exudes confidence and strategies for staying safe in high risk situations.

Module 3: Documentation and Evidence Building How to document incidents properly that actually helps your case. We'll discuss what details matter, how to store information securely and how to establish a timeline that will be durable under scrutiny.

Module 4: Having the Difficult Conversations Practical steps to confront bullying head on. Sometimes this works, and it's often the quickest way to resolution. When it doesn't, you'll know you made every reasonable effort.

Module 5 Formal Complaint Processes Your rights and choices in Australian workplace law. This also includes internal HR procedures, unions, Fair Work Australia and external bodies that can assist.

Module 6: Protecting Your Mental Health Bullying can have a very negative effect on your mental health. Our conversation will include stress management strategies, create support systems and recognise when professional help might help.

Module 7: Supporting Others How to be a helpful bystander when you see bullying happening. This includes proactive intervention and assistance of colleagues through official process.

Concluding Remarks

Workplace bullying wrecks lives, both personal and organisational. But with the right information and tools, we can build a place of work where everyone feels safe, valued and can do their best work. This isn't a course full of theory, in fact you get proven, practical strategies that you can use in the real world, at work, in Australia.

You should be able to work in a harassment and intimidation-free workplace. Perhaps more importantly, you get to help build it, whether you're advocating for yourself, supporting a coworker or driving positive change at your employer.

The price of workplace bullying, in stress, turnover and lost productivity, is simply too high. Let's join forces and create something better.

This is a CCP workshop and fully achieves Australian WHS regulations, as well as relevant sections of the Fair Work Act around sexual harassment and the rights and responsibilities workers and supervisors have within this legislation.
